Below is a summary of the air traffic usingIsle of ManAirportduring January 2014. A 7.09% increase was recorded with passengers rising by almost 3,300 to 49,709. The following points should be noted:
- January 2014 was the eleventh consecutive month that the Airport has experienced an increase in passengers, providing a solid start to 2014.
- The month was the highest January passenger throughput since January 2008.
- Growth from NW routes was 3,464 passengers, responsible for most of the overall increase.
- The South East also saw an increase of over 500 passengers.
- BirminghamandDublinboth experienced growth and charter traffic was up.
North West market
- All three NW routes from IOM saw increases. Manchesterwas over 17% up whistLiverpoolincreased by 15%. Blackpoolsaw a 2.5% increase.
- On theLiverpoolroute, Flybe experienced a 27% increase, whilst easyJet traffic fell by 9%.
- Liverpoolsaw the highest January total since 2005
London market
- The Gatwick route was up by 24% with both Flybe and easyJet seeing increases. This was a January record for IOM/LGW.
- The single daily IOM/LCY service generated a decrease of over 1,700 passengers, down 48%.
- The good LGW performance, was able to provide an overall a 3.7% increase inLondontraffic, despite the LCY reductions and the withdrawal of the IOM/LTN service.
Other Markets
- The Aer Lingus Dublin route was up by 10%.
- TheBirminghamroute showed a third month of increase with a 20% rise in traffic.
- ‘Other operations’, saw a 30% increase fuelled by a 117% increase in charter passengers.
